And she watched bewildered as he, Johnny Silverhand, keened under her touch. “I don’t get it. Are you just touch starved, or…” her voice trailed off, leaving her thoughts for the empty air. But they both knew what she was thinking.

    Johnny lifted his eyes to meet hers. “I love you, dammit,” he said her thoughts out loud. Embarrassment wasn’t a shade that suited the man. But in that moment, he wore it with the red dancing across his cheeks. “But, I can’t. Shouldn’t.”
