Summary
Aziraphale says, “Look, darling, we’re an angel and a demon. We have a delightful spread of occult and ethereal powers at our disposal. Surely we’ll be able to think of something?”
This is meant to be uplifting. This is meant to get Crowley thinking, to set his lovely imagination in line with the centuries of knowledge Aziraphale can recall, to focus Crowley at the time Aziraphale needs him the most. They can both be mortar and pestle; both be fulcrum and lever, as it suits them. There really isn’t that much difference between the two of them, anymore.
Instead Crowley recoils, and hisses, “Why must you alwaysss say that?”

Summary
No, It's past time. He told himself. With resolve, he reached out again, and grabbed the demon’s hand. Crowley’s calm exterior fell and he looked up in confusion, his body rigid.
“Aziraphale, what-”
“I love you, Crowley.”
Okay, so not exactly subtle, but it was a start.

Crowley loves taking Aziraphale out to eat almost as much as Aziraphale loves eating, but it's always a bit of a one-sided affair. Aziraphale has never understood why. Crowley planned on keeping it that way, but best laid plans...

“Hello, can I help you with anything in particular?” Aziraphale asks. And then, he freezes.
Inexplicably, impossibly, it’s the same man who had entered the shop the last time they’d been open. He’s sure of it. The man who he’d felt a rather insistent urge to garrote.
(Or, one of Aziraphale’s regular customers takes a little too much interest in Crowley, and Aziraphale feels somewhat unfamiliarly unpleasant about all of it.)

Summary
CROWLEY: I try not to make a habit of gratitude, but I must give our appreciation to everyone out there who’s been listening and subscribing to The Ineffable Plan.
AZIRAPHALE: Ooh, yes, we’ve become quite popular, haven’t we?
CROWLEY: Yeah, just hit number eight on the advice charts … No advertising at all.
AZIRAPHALE: Mm. How … miraculous.
CROWLEY: … Aziraphale. You did not.***
Crowley and Aziraphale are very possibly the people least qualified, on the entire planet, to start up an advice podcast.
But what else is there to do when the world isn’t ending anytime soon, you’re technically on indefinite sabbatical from your lifelong careers, and you need a plausible excuse to spend more time with your best friend who you’re definitely not, absolutely not, maybe just a little, actually maybe overwhelmingly in love with?

Summary
“Crowley,” Aziraphale tries again, and this time his voice is almost unbearably soft. “Maybe you should just… rest for a tic first?”
Crowley laughs. Or, he tries to. The sound that actually comes out is a little too wild, a little too desperate to actually be a laugh. “Rest,” he parrots. “Rest. We’ve got the whole of Heaven and Hell after us — us, personally — and I’m just supposed to. What. Take a quick nap?”
“If that will make you feel better, yes,” Aziraphale answers plainly.

Crowley had, Aziraphale noticed, sunk further into his seat by increments, but in a way that left him nearly slumped against Aziraphale’s side.
And, oh, neither side would have liked that, at all.
But, then again, what did it matter?

Summary
“Er. That plant.”
“Yeah?”
“May I have it?”
“No!”
The vehemence with which he responded made them both pause. Crowley was startled by the anger that welled up at the thought of handing the jade plant over to Aziraphale, and that was downright weird because he was not in the habit of denying the angel much at all.
“I mean,” he said carefully, “if you want a plant, let me give you one of the snake plants or maybe the big coleus. They'd be good for the shop, pretty stalwart in the dark...You don't want this one, it's rotten.”
“Actually,” Aziraphale said firmly, “I do want that one.”

Summary
Crowley crosses over to open the passenger door for Aziraphale, and Aziraphale’s attention is drawn to Crowley’s uneven gait, the light, too-quick steps and the rocking back and forth on his heels as he holds the door open and waits for Aziraphale to get in.
“Oh, Crowley,” Aziraphale says, heart sinking, “your feet.”

Summary
6,000-odd years is a long time to evolve a romantic relationship, but as a near-immortal being, Crowley had patience. True, they had lost momentum right around reaching the Speaking Looks and Meaningful Gestures stage, but at the time Crowley had been more or less content to let things idle.
Now, he was determined to shift things back into gear, and that gear was Explicitly Romantic Physical Expressions of Affection.

Crowley nods. "It's..." He looks down at their joined hands, and takes a long, deep breath. “We’re not— We’re not supposed to need this, y’know?” He lifts their joined hands up, lets them fall again. “You and I. Angels, demons. We're not meant to need all this. This touchy-feely stuff, all this affection, this—” a hitch in his breath— “Love.”

Summary
“Ready for lunch?” Crowley drops to his knees to start unbuckling the straps on the basket as though this is something they do all the time; as though he hasn’t just effortlessly catapulted Aziraphale back in time almost fifty years.
“You remembered,” Aziraphale breathes as wonder courses through him. He mentioned something once during an awkward moment, half a century ago, and now here kneels a demon atop a picnic blanket.
“Hmm?” Crowley barely shoots him a sidelong glance as he concentrates on opening the basket.
Aziraphale’s eyes do not move from him. “You remembered,” he repeats, no less stunned. “Crowley, you really didn’t have to.”
Crowley’s hands still. Eventually, his eyes still on the basket, he murmurs, “Well, we did The Ritz, didn’t we?”
