Summary
Soap knew he had done many awful things in his life, but never did he think home-wrecker would be added to his list of sins. It was one of the many things that had shifted inalterably the day Simon walked into his life and declared himself the husband of Soap’s current fling.
Six months later and Soap in still trying to atone for his part in Simon’s broken marriage. He’s sworn off men completely for one year and vowed to focus on his career. It seems to be working; he’s been texting with Simon to help him through the legal aspects of the divorce and has even managed to get an invite to join the elite task force 141. Then he meets Ghost and knows the universe must be either testing him or laughing at him. Suddenly, Soap finds himself torn between his steadily growing friendship with Simon and the burning hot chemistry between him and Ghost. Both men hanging just out of reach like forbidden fruit. Both a mistake waiting to happen.

Fucking hell what was he even doing? He wasn’t a model. Who wanted to look at an ex-soldier going on 40? And not even a particularly fit one at that.
He sucked his belly in and flexed, feeling like an idiot. Like this, though, he looked a lot like he did in the SAS. Maybe that’d fool the artist?

In a void of dead stars, trapped in a sea of blood there is Simon "Ghost" Riley. Attempting to earn his freedom by surviving a suicide mission didn't seem all that hard. That was, of course, until the eyes started to follow him around dark corners. All alone, blinded by an ocean of red, he has no one to talk to except for one person - someone who had survived this before - Soap. Maybe the company wouldn't be so bad. Fading into oblivion can't be so awful when you have someone talking you through it, right?

He can feel it coming, knows eventually it will have to be acknowledged, that he can’t push it down for much longer. He swallows roughly.
