"'M cold," Ed murmured, trying to curl into a tighter ball. He groaned, and then coughed a couple of times. "Hurts. Everything hurts."
Stede couldn't breathe for a moment. "...Jesus Mary and Joseph!" he gasped out. "Ed!" He shot to his feet. "I'm gonna... stay right there, Ed!" He fled to the cabin door and burst out onto the deck, where most of his crew was now sleeping in the moonlight. "Roach!" he shouted. "He's worse, Ed's worse! Where are you, Roach, wake up!"

Or, Ed contracts malaria.

Maybe it starts when Jim, with a mischievous smirk plastered onto their face, suggests an idea they have for a competition. Something that'll be really entertaining, for a few weeks at least. A way to finally get back at Izzy Hands for being an irritating bastard all this time.
"The idea is really very simple," Jim starts, "two people compete in order to win Izzy's affections. Whoever seduces Izzy the fastest wins."
Or: Stede and Edward lose a few games of rock, paper, scissors and ending up competing to see who can seduce Izzy quickest. Izzy, understandably, quickly becomes utterly baffled with everyone's behaviour.
