Summary
From a young age, Shane Hollander showed he had both the affinity and dedication to become one of the most powerful meisters in the world, far surpassing his peers in dueling. That is, so long as he could pair with a compatible weapon partner.
His struggle to connect with others didn't prevent him from rising the ranks. With Hayden Pike as his weapon partner, he has worked tirelessly to compete in his first season as a duelist in the major leagues.
But Shane is not the only one catching people's attention. Boston's newest meister, Ilya Rozanov, was an arrogant hotshot, but he was talented and bold where others hesitated, which proved deadly in the arena.
When Rozanov seems to show interest in pairing with Shane after dueling him, Shane wonders if he could unlock parts of Shane that no one else can.

But a new Special Grade makes itself known by murdering troubled high schoolers while the closest now Grade 1 (technically Grade 4 with the loss of her technique) sorcerer is all the way in California.
The Party battles fading hope of success when they find out that the local freak, Eddie Munson, is just the high-ranking sorcerer they need.
Can they convince him to help? Even if he does, will they all escape this nightmare unscathed?
