She thinks about her brother, how worried he was this afternoon, what Chim told her about that night, how he was digging in the mud, terrified. How he quickly asked her to come over as if it was his own house. How the first thing he did was drive to Eddie’s when he heard he’d called in. How soft he was in the bedroom. She thinks about all the conversations she and Buck have had about Eddie, how it’s slowly clicked into place for her, and how it probably just clicked into place for Buck in the last week- just how much he cares about Eddie, how much he loves him. How much losing Eddie would hurt.
Four days ago, Eddie nearly drowned in a well. Yesterday he changed his will, leaving Chris to Buck, not just because of his own feelings for him. Now he's sick, Buck's worried, but they both have Maddie, who starts to realize just how much Eddie reciprocates the feelings she knows her brother has.

“I like the rain,” is Buck’s answer.
Eddie doesn’t understand how. Anything more than a drizzle makes him nauseous these days; storms, downright sick. He’s like a caged animal if Buck’s not within his line of sight when the clouds roll in and the sky turns dark.
They say lightning doesn’t strike the same spot twice, but Eddie’s never been that lucky.
“I don’t,” Eddie says back.

“Mmhm,” Eddie hums, unconvinced but deciding not to press it for now. He knows Buck; knows that his boyfriend will dig his heels in the second he senses anything resembling pity or concern. It’s like the thought of being worried after makes his skin crawl. “Okay, d’you want me to get you some meds?”
Buck shakes his head, nestling back to their position before with Buck’s face in Eddie’s chest. “No, s’okay. Five more minutes?”
“Five more minutes.” Eddie agrees indulgently, because he doesn’t particularly want to get up yet, either. A quick glance at the clock shows it's only 7:45AM, so he starts scratching gently over Buck’s back through his thin t-shirt. “You can go back to sleep, if you’d like. We don’t have any plans and it’s still early.”
