Or so he believes, right up until the night of his eighteenth birthday when he murders his family and creates his second horcrux and, somehow, finds himself dead. Harry's having a crap time of it. Voldemort's back, Dumbledore's ignoring him, the Order won't let him in on their secrets, and according to the papers, Harry's a liar. The nightmares, the pain peppering his scar, the floods of anger - they're not helping. What he really needs is a distraction.

Sequel to Resonance and Revolution. The imprisonment of Voldemort's followers has left behind a power vacuum. Taking advantage, a shadowy group of organized criminals begins infiltrating British Wizardom. After a much needed holiday and time to heal Harry returns to training, but his desire to succeed as an Auror makes it difficult to hide his new powers from the Ministry. That and someone wants Harry out of the way. Snape and the Ministry must try and protect Harry not only from the wizard mafia, but also from the consequences of his strange powers. Harry's family is growing and in the midst of the chaos there is a wedding and the arrival of Snape's child.

It's Easter of year six and Harry struggles with visions he's inherited from Voldemort. Dumbledore is reaching the end of his time and needs to ensure someone will take care of Harry after he's gone. An incident in the Forbidden Forest where Snape must care for an injured Harry without using magic sets in motion a chain of events that impacts how the prophecy plays out and brings former enemies to a place of mutual understanding.
Alternative Year Six story that extends into Harry's post-Hogwarts years. Canonical as possible through OotP. (Originally written and posted between November 2003 and June 2005, between books 5 and 6 around movie 3 under the username GreenGecko. This is the 5th edition.) This story can be read as a standalone. It comes to completion without a cliffhanger.

The work Harry does is justifiable. It’s justice. He works for his country, and his country is a republic—the magical side, anyway. It’s not laudable work, it’s not work he’s proud of, but it’s necessary work. Harry has always taken the necessary jobs that no one else has the stomach for.
It’s just that he’s never deciphered a kill sheet and seen Draco Malfoy’s name on it.

When the Hogwarts letters go out in 1991, Harry Potter doesn't receive one. A year before, the Dursley family sent the child to an orphanage in London with a different name and a new identity. Growing up in London alone, Harry may escape the abuse of the Dursley's but he enters a world of neglect and handwork. When he's 13, he befriends a blue haired boy called Teddy, whom over the years becomes the closest of friends Harry could have asked for.
At 16, Harry is getting on with his life just fine. He's got two jobs, college, a great group of friends and an endless supply of cigarettes to keep his hands from uncontrollably shaking. And then, Teddy's parents announce they're coming down for the week and suddenly Harry has people coming up to him saying he's supposed to be dead and that a Dark Lord is after him.

A blackout involves memory loss due to alcohol or drug abuse. It is most common with drinking too much alcohol. Blacking out from drinking is specifically dangerous, as it renders 'gaps' or 'lapses' in a person's memory for events that occurred while intoxicated.
