The stars shine clearer in this part of Queens and Miles feels their glaring judgment. He may as well be sixteen again, in a hand-me-down mask and a BV robotics club tee shirt, web-shooters a little too tight on his wrists.
Peter hadn’t given him a speck of mean judgment then and, of course, he doesn’t now.
“Just couldn’t sleep,” Miles explains quietly. His venom has stubbornly calmed, for now. He can’t say the same for himself.
Peter nods. With that implicit, been-there understanding that Miles realizes he missed in his last few weeks on solo patrol. “Come on.”

That’s a thing Chris usually doesn’t correct people about, the idea that he has Dads, Plural. It’s easier than talking about his dead mom, easier than answering people’s questions about why he only has Dad, Singular. People who have Mom, Singular don’t usually have to answer questions, but when it’s a dad, people get curious.
He doesn’t really get why, but he knows it’s easier to just let them assume things sometimes.
