    Summary

“You knew I wouldn’t be here, Hannibal. Why did you come?”

“This was the last place that I saw you. I saw it fitting for a goodbye.” Hannibal replies flatly. “I am prone to feelings of sentimentality from time to time.”

The statement is so open and raw that it feels like a (second) stab to the gut and knocks the wind out of Will’s lungs.

“Why did you come here, Will?” He asks.

Will bites at his lip. He could lie. He could tell Hannibal that he’s on a favor for Jack, but deep down he knows he won’t. They’ve lied to each other so many times and now Hannibal is being open, and Will won’t sour that by lying. “I came here because… because I knew that you would.”

    Summary

    "You knew I'd come."

    "I hoped." Hannibal said honestly.

    "Hoped?"

"I left the trail for you."

Will's brows drew together. "You left me your broken heart?"

Hannibal's expression softened almost imperceptibly. "A rather emotional composition."

Will's gaze was fragile. "Have I broken you, Hannibal?"

"You've hurt me immensely, Will." Hannibal walked closer to the younger man.
