    Shane glares back from Montreal’s penalty box, deadpan look on his face. He’s still fuming—angry that he got called for a practically non-existent penalty, angry that Ilya called for the same stupid penalty, and angrier that they’re both sitting out for the next two minutes of play because of it.

    At least Ilya doesn’t seem too phased by it. In fact, he seems to be enjoying himself.

    “You come here often?” Ilya asks in a flirtatious tone.

    Shane snorts, shaking his head. “Not that often. But I heard you’re here a lot.”

    Ilya spreads his arms. “Ah, but the penalty box is always better when you’re in yours, too. You always look so cute in there. Like a wet kitten.”

    or: five times Shane and Ilya end up in their respective penalty boxes at the same time while playing against each other, plus one time they end up sharing one as teammates.

    His relief was temporary. Lightning-quick, Ilya slipped into the room and killed the lights. Everything went dim, and Shane’s eyes took a few long seconds to adjust to the solitary glow of the dresser lamp. When he finally saw what Ilya was wearing, his brain short-circuited.

    “Oh my God, Ilya.”

    “You like?”

    Shane liked. Christ, he liked. He liked so fucking much.

    Ilya prowled towards the bed. “How do I look in red? Ottawa colors. Our secret. Do not tell Boston.”

    It's not the worst thing Cliff's ever done, by far, but he wouldn't exactly say he's proud of it either. It's surprisingly easy to get the number from Roz's phone, despite it being practically glued to his hand all the time. But 8 shots and 3 beers will do that to a man, Cliff supposes - even a Russian one.

    He's doing this for Roz, and for the team. Sure, the boys had probably been joking when they'd mentioned going "straight to source" to solve The Montreal Jane Problem, but the last 6 weeks had been frankly unbearable. He wasn't sure what exactly Roz had done, but it had to be fixable. They'd been texting for years, for christ's sake. Undoubtedly messy and unconventional, but clearly this Jane was way more important than Roz was willing to admit. Maybe even to himself.

    Maybe that was the problem.

    David Hollander is a professional level goalie, but gives up that dream to raise Shane, instead becoming the Centaurs’ emergency backup goalie.

    Shane is diagnosed with autism, trusts Ilya with his diagnosis, and they get together sooner.
