"I love you, Katara," Korra declared one day after as she wrapped her little arms around the old waterbender's knees. Big cerulean eyes looked up to her, and for a second, they seemed to flash silver.
She knew it was meant differently this time around. But she could see from the young girl's eyes that the words carried the same certainty and strength she knew. A single tear escaped her as she stooped down to return the hug.
"I love you, too," she whispered.

It’s a story that has been told before: two young siblings find the Avatar, a young Air Nomad that had been trapped in the ice for a hundred years. The siblings would then go on to accompany the Avatar on a quest that would restore balance to the world.
But this is not the same story. The siblings do find the Avatar, but it is not the young Air Nomad. Instead, the Avatar they found was a Fire Nation princess. For her, restoring balance to the world was the last thing on her mind, yet destiny (and some very annoying Water Tribe peasants) had pointed her towards this path.

Korra is four, and she can cradle a spark in her hands as well as she can hold water. Her mother is in the kitchen and her father at the table. When she comes rushing in, a flame in one hand and a steady stream of water in the other, her father smiles.
Her mother drops the pan she’s holding. It clatters to the floor and the half-seared trout is ruined, dirtied, but Korra isn’t focused on her lack of dinner or her mother’s reaction. Her father is smiling.

Summary
Siblings Katara and Sokka find a dead boy and a grieving bison in an iceberg, and Katara realizes that she is not just a waterbender. She is the Avatar, master of all four elements, and she and her brother will have to flee across the world to find her masters capable of teaching her what she needs to know to defeat the Fire Nation.
Disgraced Prince Zuko, for his part, has been hunting the Avatar for so long he has forgotten how to do anything else. What happens when a beautiful Water Tribe girl looks him dead in the eye and says the Avatar is dead, there is no more cycle? What does his mean that his doubts about the righteousness of the Fire Nation's cause keep growing? Surely nothing.

Drawn to each other over and over, Katara and Zuko eventually realize that together, not apart, they can save the world.

Summary
Arthur Morgan did not intend to survive when he gave his hat to John Marston and stayed behind to gain his redemption. As he crawled towards his final resting place, he never intended to wake up again.
But he does wake up. Thanks to time travelers Francis Sinclair and Charles Smith, Arthur's life has been saved by a Saint Denis hospital in the year 2021. The two men were under orders from a mysterious figure known only as The Traveler to save Arthur, as a reward for turning his life around. While Arthur's tuberculosis is on the mend, he finds he has unfortunately developed a nasty case of PTSD from his brush with death. To cope, he goes to live on a Big Valley cattle ranch owned by Jackson and Victoria Linton, two of Mary Linton's descendants. The siblings quickly become Arthur's new family, though Arthur is especially taken with Victoria. At the same time, Arthur is haunted by memories of his past life, from 1883 to 1899.
Navigating the strangeness of waking up in a different century soon takes a spot on the back burner when a ghost from the past begins to threaten the ranch. Arthur must prove whether he really is a redeemed man as he faces a choice between his old life and the new home he has made in 2021.

Before the firebender could answer, Sokka interrupted, “are you going to ask us to help save Zuko again?”
No one missed the flinch or the look on Iroh’s face before he regained his composure.
“No,” he shook his head, “rather, I’m here to return the favor.”
Iroh looked directly at Aang, then bowed, “it would be my honor to teach you firebending, young Avatar.”

Iroh ventures to the Western Air Temple after the eclipse to make sure Aang actually learns some firebending (and then joins the Gaang). Meanwhile, Zuko decides to actually give himself more time to think of a proper apology and delays his own arrival by a day.
