Summary
Alhaitham returns to Sumeru to attend his grandmother’s funeral. All the wealth and estate of his grandmother, as well as the power over their family company, is his to take. The only catch is that, according to the terms of his grandmother's will, he must wed a certain someone that she chose for him to inherit everything.
Having learned that, Alhaitham flees to Fontaine to get away from this predicament even if it’s just for a while so that he can mull over his decisions. However, trouble always seems to follow him as there he experiences the struggle of sharing a rented house with an overly gullible and broke architect after a rather unfortunate and erroneous documentation of their temporary ownership over the house.
How does one lead a peaceful life when Kaveh is there to easily rile you up? Alhaitham, as a scholar, seeks an answer to this question.
Next thing they know, a few months pass by quite swiftly when you live with someone you proclaim you hate, yet they are confused as to why some certain feelings got mixed up in their daily bickering and concoction of opposing views along the way.

Summary
“There are worse ways to make money”– is what Kaveh thinks to himself each time his classmates approach him with an all too familiar glint in their eyes. He’s eaten questionable food combinations, dyed his hair a gaudy colour, even waxed out his nose hair. Each time with little to no hesitation if it meant he didn’t have to eat 2-minute noodles eaten out of a styrofoam cup. But his fearlessness towards anything his classmates could think of would eventually meet its match, at the challenge for him to ask out his ridiculously attractive yet simultaneously irritating roommate; Alhaitham– who is sick and tired of being sought after by half of the Academy’s populace, and says so during a round of TCG that same night.
Just as Kaveh is about to cut his losses, a saving grace comes in the form of a suggestion; a fake relationship between the two of them. Alhaitham would no longer be pursued and left alone by his admirers, and Kaveh would get his money. Before Kaveh can even object, he’s interrupted by Alhaitham; who not only shows interest but ultimately agrees to the idea.
With the expecting eyes of his peers and the money so easily up for grabs, Kaveh feels as if the choice was made up from the very beginning.
