On the heels of disastrous defeat aboard the SeaDragon, Miles Quaritch walks into the woods one night expecting the sting of shame and a friendship gone to the wolves. He doesn't remember throwing away the pamphlets. He doesn't need to name every degree of separation between what he is and who he was.¹ All Miles knows is that he hates himself, he hates his best friend, and he is dancing on the edge of a mental fucking breakdown.

How fitting for the Recombinants to be reborn, but they weren’t the only ones.
Deja Blu’s original mission is thrown off course after their disastrous first encounter with the Sully family. However, they did manage to capture Spider and the adopted daughter of Jake Sully, Ten’etirey.
It’s no coincidence that she looks and sounds just like the friend they lost over 20 years ago.
The two new “members” help guide the Recombinants to understand their bodies, the world, and hopefully to see.
It doesn’t take long for attachments to grow, some further than others. Unwilling to give up this second chance of new life and the possibility of redemption, but old habits die hard.

Quaritch is having an undeniably hard time dealing with his secondary gender.
In order to stay in control over this new thing he hates, he has to take care of his needs. Needs he never had to deal with before.
But it's not that simple. The idea of admitting what he is and willingly allow what his body requires is unfathomable. He can't. He won't give in to that.
An agreement is struck. He can keep this thing in check and separate from who he is, so long as they keep up their end of the bargain.
