Elliot only looked annoyed in response. As if to wonder if he was stupid for thinking he had the answers to all this confusion. “Why, you’ve got somewhere better to be?”
“B-but, I can’t!” 007n7 shook his head, beginning to hyperventilate. “My son… he’s still missing! I can’t stay here. I have to go find him!”
A story of a father who had no business raising a child, and a child who had no business being taken from his father.
A story of how a father called out to his son, pleading to free himself of the shackles heavier than his own soul. And a story of how a son laid down crimes heavier than his own body, oblivious to heed the call.

Purgatory is a funny word to describe whatever hellish landscape this was. Everyone had their fair share of sins, was being murdered really the way to be cleansed of them? And if so, why did guilt still cling onto 007n7 so desperately, even after death after death? Every waking moment, it was there, like tar stuck to his very being, this darkness akin to a second layer of skin.
But a kind light shined through, relentlessly, in spite of his insecurities. They manifested in the forms of soft smiles, mugs of warm tea, and calloused hands. Boons for someone undeserving of such goodness.
Maybe hope does still prevail, even in the face of this damnation.
