She asks, “Even if I do prevent the massacre on September 7th, 1994, what stops him from going back to school and doing it the next day? Or the day after that?”

    “The house can’t manipulate him if you blow it to pieces,” Cordelia says, and her smile is so confident that Violet believes her.

    To no one’s shock, in the aftermath, Moira scrubs. On all fours, she toils away at the heady, dark blood seeping into Peruvian mahogany floorboards. Death has become all too familiar here.

    How did it come to this?

    She wanted them all to escape. The way none of the others had. They were a good family, after all. But Moira should’ve known better. Should’ve known that once the front door swung open for the very first time, that they had stepped into the maw of the worst kind of beast. After all, living over a hellmouth could only last for so long.

    Even so… one more soul has been trapped in here, with her. After the first dozen or so times this had happened, she thought she’d become numb. She would’ve been, at least… had she not grown so close to these tenants. So attached.

    Moira knows someone who will be all too happy with this. The thought of their glee, only serves to exacerbate her chagrin at this development. After all… they had planned this, hadn’t they? They’ve gotten everything they wanted. Everyone has.
