Me: I may be a fan of Optimus x Starscream
Okay I can’t lie and say that those two’s relationship is the only reason I adore this fic. I love Starscream’s characterization and arc so much. His relationships with the people around him were so fascinating to see play out and develop. Starscream’s arc from ideal (not) Decepticon to the mech he is at the end of the story was so fascinating to play out and develop. The author really has a way with storytelling and you can tell they have such grasp on these characters. I mean, this is the best written Optimus I have seen in- awhile. Also, as much as I hate to say it, yeah that’s a pretty accurate depiction of Cliffjumper- he was such an ass and it was perfect. I love how not once is Starscream’s actions sugarcoated. Yes he was a spy for the Autobots, he also hurt a *lot* of people. That’s what makes this characterization of him so amazing to me. It felt like a genuine, maybe redemption isn’t the word to use, character arc. Nothing was rushed, he needed time to change his perspective and the way he reacts. And at the end of the day, it’s still Starscream, the same pathetic loser I adore so much. His arc didn’t make him an entirely new person that was unrecognizable to the original character. He is still the same bot, just loved.
Okay and yeah this fic very much endeared me to Optimus x Starscream. Give that idiotic martyr another partner. I already ship him with like three other bots (Elita, Ratchet, and Megs), might as well give him another. Oh the joys of being a multishipper.

Summary
Starscream did not plan to raise not-quite-sparklings during the war. He definitely didn't plan on raising any during what might as well be an apocalypse scenario for his species as a whole, and he absolutely did not plan on any attempts of co-parenting with the Autobots stupid medic during said apocalypse.
And yet, all three things were happening, set to the tune of Shockwave's backfired virus trying its best to kill them all.
Starscream has priorities. Those priorities are to keep the few remaining Decepticons alive, eradicate the virus, establish a peace treaty with the Autobots before they declare themselves winners of the war and try to keep himself from falling in love (also with the Autobots stupid medic.)
Pity his priorities (and the Stunticons) were working against him.
