He's also the Knight of Seven's biological son, and more often than not, his needy whore. Suzaku should have probably killed himself sooner. It's much too late now. In a Victorian-esque era where lovers Lelouch Lamperouge and Suzaku Kururugi were forcefully separated due to the ongoing war. Due to the pressure of societal norms, even during such dire events, they couldn't express their feelings outwardly in fear of damnation and discrimination. The only way they figured they could freely let their thoughts run wild was through letters. Therefore, one of the two always made it a point to send elaborate bouquets attached with his envelopes.

If anyone had told Suzaku a month ago that he was going to meet actual mermaids one day he would have laughed at them and told them it was impossible — mermaids didn’t exist.
And if anyone had asked Suzaku later on how the hell he ended up accidentally meeting mermaids in the small town of Pendragon, he would have first corrected them and told them to call them merpeople, said it was a funny story and then proceeded to explain how it was all Anya and Gino’s fault but that he was forever grateful to them because of it, even if he was never going to say that to their faces.
