Fine. Vi gets it. She really, really does. She’s been there before. When she made her first kill, she was overwhelmed with guilt. She searched for a reason for it — begged the gods to give it meaning.

A slightly modified retelling of Starfield's story. I felt like there was so much missing in the in-game worldbuilding and story, so I decided to fill in those gaps myself. I can't mod for shit so I chose to write this fic instead. This has been a long time in the making, I played the game when it first launched, and fell in love with it. I replayed it recently to get a story refresher, I hope y'all enjoy!

Sarah could hardly believe it. This woman, this Starborn, wanted to start over? As if she and the rest of Constellation could simply just ignore that she was a quasi-cosmic entity. Did she not realize how insane that sounded? That she might know their strengths, their weaknesses, even their pasts and closely guarded secrets was more than a bit unsettling. But still, she’d brought with her all the knowledge and data they needed to find the rest of the Artifacts and had shared it without hesitation. For that alone, Sarah supposed she deserved a chance.

Summary
Artemis has spent several short lifetimes chasing knowledge and seeking revenge throughout the multiverse. As she embarks on her seventh journey, she begins to doubt her own motivations for becoming Starborn.
In this universe, Constellation is almost exactly the same as she remembers, reminding her of the relationships she left behind. Perhaps this could this be her chance to turn her back on the Unity once and for all. Perhaps, if she is able to recover her humanity and rekindle her friendships, she will be content to stay.
And perhaps, this time, she will be able to prevent the tragedy which sparked her hatred for the Hunter and destroy him once and for all.

This will be a bit of a canon run through Starfield events, but I'm going to lean in on the humor a lot more and expand on the story. Spoilers for the game abound in it, so be warned. NSFW chapters will be marked, but it will be a bit before those are posted because Starfield has a monster of a story arc.
