Summary
In the midst of the war with the Dominion, a mysterious ship of unknown origin comes through the wormhole, the only person on board an alien of humanoid origin that seems to have been in stasis for a very long time. Trying to find out more about the visitor from beyond the wormhole by piecing together the tiny pieces of information from the alien ship's log files, the crew of DS9 slowly learns about the tragic events that have taken place more than a hundred of years in the past. At the same time, the Romulans start to demand a stronger presence on the station as they consider DS9 the key strategic point in the war with the Dominion. While Senator Remak is sent to investigate how far Romulan interests are taken into account on the station, Dr. Julian Bashir has problems of his own: He can't shake the feeling that he is being watched.
