Summary
In the 2005 movie the Corpse Bride, Victor was torn between two women and two worlds. Okay, well, throw that out the window because this is different. Instead Victoria is the one having qualms about getting married because she's a lesbian and she ends up reciting her vows in the forest and accidentally marrying Emily. Well, the whole thing ends up working out in her favor and the two are happy together. That is until they are told their marriage is null and void.

Summary
I am quite the fan of Tim Burton and The Corpse Bride but I couldn’t help but wonder how the story of Emily worked if, instead of Victor, Victoria Everglot played the role of the spouse.
So, I decided to write the sapphic version I would like to see on screen: it will never happen but a girl can dream, right?
I’ve divided the story into two parts that made sense in my head.

Emily Pettler once grew up with Victoria Everglot. The two were the best of friends, but eventually Emily's family moved. The girls only talked through letters now. And just when Emily thought she'd lose her best friend, her parents tell her that their marrying Emily off to a member of their family, Lord Barkis Bittern. Emily is overjoyed, ready to see her best friend again. But her dreams are shattered by stern parents and a rather unattractive Barkis. She messes up her vows horribly, and runs off in an emotional moment. Just when she thought the day couldn't get any worse, she ends up engaged to a corpse groom!

Victor van Dort, the son of some newly wealthy fishmongers, is entering into an Arranged Marriage with Victoria Everglot, a beautiful young woman from an Impoverished aristocratic family. The two find ou that, well, maybe some friendship, or maybe even love, will go into this cerimony as well, everything is going swimmingly...except for the tiny problem of Victor being too nervous to memorize his wedding vows. He goes into the forest to practice them but, unintentionally, gives the speech and engagement ring to the vivacious and fun-loving Jack, who thinks they are now married.
Oh, did I mention Jack is a walking, talking dead man?
Victor is dragged to the underworld, which ironically heavily contrasts with the drab surroundings of the living by being colourful and vibrant. At first he is desperate to get back home to Victoria, but is soon torn between the life he knew and his life in the underworld. Victor also finds himself drawn towards Jack, but Jack's tragic death may be more entwined with the lives of Victoria and himself than he first thought.

The skeleton stared at her until he looked back at the piano. With hesitation, he hovered his large, skeletal hands over its keys. He gave one last glance to Emily before slowly engaging in a solo of his own. His long fingers proved to be quite useful, as he covered nearly all of the keys necessary to hit without moving an inch.
