They were in the Inquisitor’s private quarters. A few candles offered gentle, warm light across the big room, the curtains drawn shut despite the fact that it was nighttime already anyhow. They were most likely the only ones still awake in the entirety of Skyhold. There he was seated on a chair not far away from the bed. Not really extraordinary.
If it wouldn’t have been for the fact that his hands were tied behind his back and therefore behind the chair’s backrest. Instead of traditional ropes, the band of Solas’ necklace was used to bind his hands neatly together. The wolf’s jawbone hung from the strings loosely.
He was sure that if he’d put his strength into it, he could break the strings. But Solas first would have to ask himself if he really wanted that.

In the twilight Solas feels small.
Not insignificant, but tender as he sheds his clothes in a pile on the floor. The candlelight plays across the surface of his skin, casting shadows across the divots in his back. There is an air of performance as he slides his fingers beneath the hem of his trousers, not ignorant of the eyes that watch him from the bed.
It is simple, as requests go: Solas wants to be fucked, and moreover, wants Ian to be the one to fuck him. Despite being ready and willing, Ian needs to find some confidence before he is ready to oblige.

The quill stopped moving, but Dorian didn't look up; his face was nearly unreadable as he said softly, "you don't say. I hadn't noticed."
Solas watched the way the tension sat in his shoulders, the way he schooled his handsome face (when had he started thinking of Dorian as handsome?) into an impassive expression. "Unlike you, some of us need our beauty rest," Solas quipped, "as you and Vivienne are intent on reminding me."
"Well, it is true I can't get any more gorgeous, I'll give you that," Dorian returned, "but you're not hard on the eyes."

Whatever quip was struggling to make its way from his fatigued brain to the tip of his tongue died as Dorian's warm hand slipped into his own. Solas forgot what it was to breathe as Dorian nuzzled close to his neck, heated breath brushing against his skin tantalizingly. It was a small gesture, but intimate and gentle in a way they had not been before.
