When Pepa had been pregnant with her triplets, Julieta had felt so much jealousy and resentment that she had begun to resent herself for it. Full of baby fever, unable to have another child of her own, and remembering the last child she couldn't have, nothing had felt fair. She had felt horrible, unable to be happy for her sister without wishing that the children would have been hers instead.
For a while, she is afraid that she is always going to be jealous. Until she finally spends time with the infant triplets on her own.

He kind of hated the idea, to be entirely honest. Investing the time and energy to break down someone’s defences, and the vulnerability of having the same done to him was terrifying. Maybe a little exciting, but mostly terrifying. There were hundreds of reasons he could never, ever make that leap, allow himself to stumble.
