George Russell, the 2018 F2 champion, to Williams.
Lando Norris, the 2018 F2 runner-up, to McLaren.
Alexander Albon to Torro Rosso.
And most surprisingly to many motor sport fans, who never thought they would see the day, for good or ill, Elise Stewart, the 5th place finisher in the 2018 F2 standings, to Alfa Romeo, replacing Charles Leclerc who had moved from the once-named Sauber team to Ferrari.
The only female driver in F2 in 2018 became the first female F1 racing driver since Giovanna Amati in 1992.
But what the hellscape that was certain sections of the Internet were also hung up on was that she was married, married to George Russell.
All manner of other relatives had raced together or separately in F1 over the years.
But now F1 had its first married couple.

Charles has never been good at keeping secrets. Even as a kid, he couldn’t lie, and he loved to talk, especially about things that excited him. So, it wasn’t a surprise that half the grid knew that Lewis was leaving Mercedes in 2025 before it was announced, or that a seemingly “anonymous” Tumblr poster also knew about the signing before it was announced.
Or, Five people Charles told about his contract renewal and Lewis signing with Ferrari that caused Max to be concerned, and how the final person to find out before the announcement helped Carlos realize he deserved better.
