Summary
“I’m leaving.” Merlin says, because this situation already cost him his Duolingo streak, and he’s too tired to deal with Arthur when the food Gaius is serving him looks like it belongs on a list of war crimes committed by the Canadian soldiers.
“Where to?” His mentor asks, and Merlin shrugs, before going to his room and packing his bag.
“India. Gaius, I have decided I don’t give a damn, especially not when having to eat that bland food. I’ll be back in three months, make sure Arthur doesn’t die when I’m out.”
“Merlin!” And maybe, if he was younger and didn’t travel back to the past last month, he would’ve actually cared about the ‘eyebrow of disapproval’.
Or, a 1500yo Merlin gets zapped to the past during his vacation to Cuba. You’d think he’s happy to see Arthur again. He’s not.

Summary
Merlin always suspected destiny had it out for him. That suspicion became certainty when Arthur decided to stage a play.
About Emrys.
With glitter.
Arthur calls it cultural integration. Merlin calls it a war crime. Possibly several.
Or: The one where Arthur discovers ‘theatre’ and Merlin discovers existential regret.

Summary
“Ah, I’m unavailable on Thursday evenings, young warlock,” Kilgharrah’s voice intoned, with what Merlin could only describe as deeply apologetic gravitas. “That is a night dedicated to... personal growth and self-reflection.”
“You’re booked?” Merlin asked, tone teetering between disbelief and insult.
“Yes, I have boundaries, Merlin,” Kilgharrah replied, as though that settled the matter entirely.
Merlin stood in the dragon-summoning field, utterly flummoxed and vaguely offended. A dragon—his dragon, the last of its kind, ancient and mighty and presumably unaffected by anything less than cataclysmic events—was skipping a monster-of-the-week consultation for what sounded suspiciously like a self-care evening.
This could only mean one thing. He was enchanted, or brainwashed, or indoctrinated by a sinister, emotionally manipulative cult. Merlin knew the type. Smiles that didn’t quite reach the eyes. Cloaks. Tea and biscuits—probably Custard Creams.
Whatever it was, Merlin was going to get to the bottom of it.
Or: The one where the Great Dragon joins a support group to stop speaking in riddles and Merlin accidentally has a full emotional breakdown over a Rich Tea biscuit

Summary
Some say Camelot’s laundry is cleaned by a miracle. Others say by a fairy.
Really, it’s just Merlin.
Merlin, who has no idea he’s become a divine cleaning entity.
Or: what if Merlin using that stain removal spell in Episode 1 of Season 4 somehow led to the formation of a fanatical cult, ritual sock parades and Arthur in crop tops?

Summary
Arthur’s voice dropped, more serious. “It’s not like you to hate anyone, Merlin. But you look at Mordred like he’s your enemy.”
Merlin went quiet.
"Merlin?"
“Maybe he is,” he whispered so quietly the words barely made it past his lips.
“What?” Arthur asked in disbelief.
....

Summary
Merlin really shouldn’t be surprised anymore.
Whenever his life starts looking like it might be taking a turn for the better, fate finds a way to send him spiralling in another direction with nothing to hold onto. It’s happened more times than Merlin can count, from having to leave Ealdor the first time to freeing Kilgharrah from Camelot’s underground cell. Magic and fate, it seems, are just unable to leave him alone.
So yeah, nothing should really surprise him anymore.
Although he doesn’t see a way anyone could have expected this.

Summary
We all know the legend of Merlin and Arthur, how they came to be two important figures in British and Welsh history. But was that truly their first encounter? No. Their destiny had been written eons prior, when the first important civilizations had started to form.
That is where it all began, during Arthur's first life.
When a god walked the Earth for the first time.
And when said god fell in love with a mortal. -

Summary
“Sit down. Also, please remove the plate from the air.” Merlin does as he’s told—for once—and sit’s in the chair next to Arthur’s, who of which is sitting at the head of the table like normal.
“So, you’re a…”
“A sorcerer, yes.”
“I was going to say an idiot, but sure.”Revealing his magic to Arthur happens in the weirdest, stupidest way, but somehow the idiocy does not end there. He tells his king the truth, maybe minus a couple of details involving people close to him, and then lets the man deal with it in his own time. Merlin's aware he's a unique person, but to think he's that much of an idiot that everything he mentioned—destiny, dragons, coins and such—is a complete lie? Well, that's just insulting.
Or, the magic reveal fic where Arthur doesn't believe how powerful Merlin is because he thinks his servant is too stupid for it to be true.

Summary
As all devote fans of Merlin should know, Gaius is a terrible liar and Merlin has been accused of being off in the tavern anytime he is missing. This can sometimes lead to the belief that the poor overworked servant had a major drinking problem and runs off to the taverns for days at a time. However this isn’t the case as Merlin can’t hold ale well at all and is usually off saving Arthur’s arse or being attacked by one of the many Pendragon’s enemies.
Merlin has gone as far as being bluntly honest with Arthur about being away dying and having his answer brushed away. Merlin used this to his advantage despite hating the tavern excuse but sometimes his injuries bleed more than expected due to working when he should be healing. Merlin is just as stubborn if not more than Arthur is after all. So when he is with Arthur directly after an incident, he is unaware of the blood that has seeped onto his favorite blue shirt.
