When Tora was building Origin he was just as afraid of failure as everyone else. So he built another function into the machine. If the worst were to happen anyone in contact with Origin would be sent to the past. Resetting Origin was not supposed to activate this feature, and yet Noah and the others found themselves in the past, not that they’re aware that it’s the past at all.
Scattered across the world, and unknowingly wreaking havoc on the timeline. That would be bad enough, but what’s with all this fog?

There’s slices with an icy swiftness flitting too fast beyond Lora that it vanishes between her blinks, furtive frigidness coughing cold to arrest her to shivers. And there’s a florid, red glow piercing clear in the wasteland of ice, held embalmed in flesh like infected sutures are buried in skin.
The form she recognizes is altered and brutalized to a darker fate, exhumed from his shallow grave. It is a distortion, an unnatural horror flaring rusted silver in broken wings beyond his stature. Climbing and grasping his limbs, muted colors sing waning lights, and worst of all, a scar is embedded deep in his exposed chest, a sight that puppeteers Lora’s hand to grasp a loose touch upon her own.
