What if a weapon could feel pain?
Ariel Pégoud, a student at the Imperial War Academy certainly wouldn't even have considered it a possibility. He's been up close to weapons just like that one—unfeeling, metal things pretending to be knights. Standing 30 feet tall, they are built to withstand all weapons and kill anyone who stands in their way.
He meets that weapon when he joins the revolutionaries. Their one shot at revolution: the very first prototype. It was more powerful and more dangerous than any production suit that succeeded it. He's chosen as the pilot, unwittingly. And then he learns that she can feel, too. She's just as broken as he is.
And with her help, he might realize that that's not the only thing they have in common, and she might have a solution to a problem he didn't even know he had.
With her by his side, and everyone looking at him as the beacon of hope, he has no choice but to fight.
And he will.
He will fight for a better future for her.

The machine considered as it reached into its mostly-corrupted memory banks. “Grian,” it said simply. “Am I… Grian?” There was nothing else—no video, no audio, no more information—just a single name.
The human shook his head. “No, you’re not Grian. He’s the one that created you. Your name is NPG.” His hand was still laying on the machine’s arm, exerting gentle pressure. It thought that may have been a reassuring gesture.
“I am… NPG.” It sounded correct. “Are you Grian?”
The human made a noise of amusement. “I’m not Grian, either. My name is Scar.”
“You are Scar. I am NPG,” it repeated. “Where am I?”

After a rough day of testing, GLaDOS gives Chell a dumb intelligence test. In which, Chell promptly fails and GLaDOS makes fun of her to no end. Until Chell gets a very bad migraine, and GLaDOS, without thinking, comforts Chell. Come the next day, and Chell can’t stop thinking about it. She masturbates in the shower to GLaDOS' voice. Soon, she is looking at GLaDOS in a different way. Anyway, nice comfy fluffsmut “oh wow i’m not as much of an asshole” romance. Batteries included. Summary
Taxidermy Butterfly is equal parts sexual fantasy and emotional outlet. Suddenly having emotions after years of living as a robot. The desire to destroy what you love. The frustration of a love that you know will never be returned. The guilt of being a sexual creature. Processing your love through an emotionally stunted lens. It is ugly and violent and aimless, yet I felt the need to write it.

The only constant through everything is a particular test subject, and GLaDOS finds out there's quite a lot more to being human than exchanging oxygen for carbon dioxide.
