A Christian Preacher from Korea comes into the use of the Deathnote. When he makes links with himself and Kira, riding off of his coattails, and makes the claim that he and Kira are talked about in the bible, he suddenly is volted to the forefront of a new religious order.

I deadass have no clue how to write Ryuk. Haven't watched deathnote in ages started after I got the idea and wrote 3 chapters in a few hours.
This takes place in a universe where some details, rules, and other things are changed/reworded to fit the setting, but the events of the anime are still Cannon but covered up by the Japanese police/government but "Kira" survives across East Asia and America as a kind of Urban legend.
People are more sceptical of the existence of Kira, but many believe he existed. The timeline has been changed so that the show happens between November 28th, 2006, and January 28th, 2010. The days likely being taken off of filler days and having certain events not occur, or happen within a much shorter period of time.
Will try to do at least one chapter a week but, they are released when written.

Light was dying again wasn’t he.
He couldn’t think. Couldn’t breathe. He didn’t want to die. Why. Why was life this cruel.
He realized after a minute had passed that this was not the all claiming heart attack he remembered. How many had felt that sharp taste of regret light had caused. How many had shaken desperately to live. Clawed at their throat, scrawled at the floor.
L hadn’t fought it.
Light did.
The vomit stained his desk, coating his room in the vileness of Kira.
Kurou Otoharada. He had died once more. Everyone on that scene who hadn’t been at danger. Had been claimed. Mauled by an animal, a monster.
Kira was back.

Summary
Detective L finally woke up from a coma after almost two months. He remembers a very weird and realistic dream he had dreamed while he was asleep. After rehabilitation, he continues his usual life as a world greatest detective. However, after a few months of 'normal' life his dream began to turn into a harsh reality.
