*‘’YOU CAN’T JUST TAKE HER LIKE THAT!’’*
A voice echoed through the cold hallways of the ARK. Gerald Robotnik, greatest scientific mind, frowned at the visible anger pouring out of his son’s voice, his grip on his table as the screen from the transmission buzzed. He could count with one hand the amount of times that he had seen or heard one of his boys truly infuriated. It really hurt to know that his own father was the cause of his distress. But he had to understand, for the sake of his daughter’s future. She is unable to just stay on earth with a sickness that would slowly consume her until she tragically succumbed to it. He couldn’t allow it, he would *not* allow it. Maria was a strong and brilliant girl, his most valuable treasure in life, nearly everything the oldest robotnik had ever done so far had been for her, to grant her the opportunity to live in a peaceful world that she could thrive in, a world where she could inhabit and find happiness within. Fate was cruel, and it simply broke his heart to see someone so wonderful as his granddaughter pay the price for it

Summary
TIME is a finicky thing.
To some, time was just another number to keep track of. And while that may be the case for most people, it certainly didn’t apply to all. To that minority of beings, time was endless. Time was as useless as a jar of dirt to them.
And to Agent Stone, time was just a tool to get what he wanted back.
Sonic’s heart thrummed in his chest as his emerald green eyes flickered helplessly around the dark cave. Agent Stone stood defensively in front of the trio, gun pointblank at his forehead. The agent’s thumb trembled as he placed it on the trigger.
Think, Sonic. There’s a heartbroken agent in front of you with a time reversing gun pointed at you and your brothers.
“You…you don’t know what it’s like,” Agent Stone said, his voice trembling. His tongue flicked outside his lips, his dark eyes glazed over, and pupils blew out. Sonic swallowed thickly and slowly raised his hands up.
“Maybe…I don’t know what it’s like,” Sonic started, talking slowly and clearly. “But I never wanted him dead-,”
“Just shut UP!” Stone shouted.
Aka Sonic got sent back in time fifty years ago and finds the Shadow before Maria died and the two fall in a 70’s love story.

His hands clench at his sides. He turns away.
The view she never gets tired of holds nothing for him in this moment.

You probably knew Shadow the Hedgehog, as known as The Ultimate Life Form, the greatest creation of Professor Gerald Robotnik with the DNA of the Black Doom. But, there was one thing you didn't know : Shadow was not the only artificial Mobian created on the Ark, not the first either. The first Mobian, successfully created, was the true definition of perfection with high intelligence and great physical strength. Above all, the speed he naturally exhibited was beyond ordinary limits. That Mobian was Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog.

He didn’t know what his true purpose was, but he knew that as long as he was aboard the ark, as long as he *lived*, he would take care of her if she needed him to. ‘’Shadow?’’ her soft voice broke through his thoughts, making him tilt his head at her in a way that made her giggle. His brows furrowed in confusion. ‘’Sorry! You look so cute when you do that.’’

‘’What happened? I’ve never seen you like that.’’ Sonic hummed in response. ‘’Don’t worry too much about it, it happens sometimes.’’ Shadow tilted his head to the side slightly in visible confusion. Making Sonic look away in an attempt to stifle a laugh, before speaking again.

Luckily, he knows the perfect place for a down-on-his-luck hedgehog to recuperate without being spotted- that is, if he can convince Shadow to accept the help. Slowly, the cave that was once just a decaying monument to past-lives becomes something more, a living representation of fresh starts and healing wounds.

Gerald Robotnik is the one who discovered the husk. He named it Sonic after it proved useful to Project Shadow. He sent it to Earth to buy himself more time, only to lose Sonic in the end.
Maria Robotnik knew she was going to be close friends with Sonic from the moment they first met. This closeness caused her sickness to flare when Sonic died. Gerald saved her by erasing her memories, and she only remembers Sonic when her dying breath leaves her.
Maria is the person Shadow was made for. She is his sister, and he loves her dearly. He also loves Sonic. He loves them both so much that Gerald is forced to erase his memory, too, when Maria's illness and Sonic's death nearly causes him to go berserk.
Abraham has never been fond of the aliens on the ARK, but he was friends with Sonic, mainly because the hedgehog never quit trying. Abraham is also the only one permitted to keep his memories of Sonic, driving yet another wedge between him and the others.
Sonic wakes up on Christmas Island with the company of the chao and no memories to guide him.

Summary
Gerald shows Maria and Shadow what it looks like when Sonic is deactivated in order to teach them what to do in this situation. This encounter plants the seed in their heads about Sonic not being 'alive,' and this point comes up again when Shadow confronts Sonic about letting himself get fatally hurt merely because Sonic doesn't consider himself to be alive, either.
It is only years later when Sonic believes he's alive, but then again, it isn't like he knows the truth about what happened in the ARK.
