He was on the brink of sleep, teetering off the edge into unconsciousness, when Arthur moved behind him. At first Merlin took no notice of it and went back to the brink, but then an arm was draped over his torso and his eyes shot wide open. He held his breath, as if one single exhale would blow away the limb from his body. It wouldn’t of course, but that didn’t stop him from holding it until he couldn’t any longer.
Merlin and Arthur are in the cold with only one bedroll, and Arthur's too in love with his court sorcerer to let the man freeze to death. Alternatively, a fluffy, sappy oneshot :)

All he knows is he needs to find Merlin, who has luckily been close to the lake all these years. How he finds Merlin... that's interesting (and maybe a little spicy). He then has to grapple with losing everyone he knows except Merlin while realizing that he might have feelings for Merlin. Merlin gets to teach him about modern life and they both enjoy that for different reasons. Definitely a slowburn, heavy angst at points, but a happy ending <3
