He’s been working on it, though; was forced to during his first month with Varric after the dwarf finally got fed up with pulling his ass out of magically induced fires.
So he knew the moment his fingers first twitched in the direction of the shining book that he should’ve left the damned thing alone. It was propped up on a stark white pedestal and leaking the green fog of the Fade, and Rook should’ve turned around and walked back to Bellara — convinced her to leave the artifact that she was fucking with alone. He didn’t, though. He let the siren call of curiosity claw its way into his chest and pull him towards the open pages.
Just a peek, he had told himself.
It was, to say the least, a poor choice.
