He started the reclamation of the house in the basement, it may be his house, but he did give Stanley till the end of summer to get his things together. No reason to stress the children in his twins' care when Ford could just clean up his biggest regret. in the viewing room he finds a few boxes with a lot of low-quality spiral notebooks, he begins to read them in an attempt to find out who wrote them.
Every entry is from Stanley over the last thirty years, all his thoughts and ideas and feelings.

Stan’s been given a time wish, instead of wishing he never made the “greatest” mistake of his life, he thought things through. His dad always did say he’d mess things up one way or another so maybe he should dig deeper.
If he wasn’t around he wouldn’t have held Ford back but what about the bullies? They’ll eat his twin up if he wasn’t there to defend and encourage him. And with their parents, Stanford will need all the encouraging Stanley gives.
But what if he’s there for just enough time to watch his brother succeed? He’ll just re-live their childhood up to the point before he breaks the machine. After that, it’s good bye again.

Stan didn't mean to make someone mad enough for them to kidnap him but here he was, escaping in a dense jungle somewhere in Columbia. Luckily, they were dumb enough to be near some train that happened to be running through, hoping on the back and laughing as he escaped. A few moments of breathing and then a quick walk through the train lead him to remember the gunshot wounds those yahoos left him as parting gifts, nothing this random bag of pills can't help with.
How did he end up in some log cabin before he could take them? Why is it so damn cold now? Why is there some man yelling at him before he could understand where he is? Where is he and what just happened?
