“What?” Will almost laughed. “No!”
Mike flopped his head down on the couch beside Will’s legs. “Whyyy?” His voice was muffled by the pillows. “Dustin did it, and he’s the funnest.”
Will considered this and concluded that it was stupid for Mike to attribute ‘funness’ to how willing you were to take off your shirt. He opened his mouth to say that. “You should take off your shirt.” It took him a second to register the words that had come out of his mouth, and another to realize that that was in fact not what he had planned to say.
Mike and Will get into a summer situationship. It's all fun and games at the start, but by the end they'll have to piece their broken friendship back together or lose each other for good.

Summary
Billy only touched with purpose.
He usually hid it fairly well, never came off as needy and never indicated that he was even desiring a touch-mate. While he was never the first to offer a handshake, he never turned them down unless intending to insult. Billy didn’t turn away from pats on the shoulder nor did he cringe away from bodies jostling against him. Really, the harmless social faux-pas might have gone unnoticed if not for one key piece of evidence: Billy Hargrove had a signature move.
It was a move he used from the very moment he showed up on the school grounds. It was a move he used whenever he had the chance and on all the girls he met - the girls that caught his eye and the ones he merely interacted with in class.
It seemed with any excuse he could find, Billy touched a girl’s face.
Or - Operating in a world where the first touch of a palm or shoulder - or lips - can bring about a remarkable change to a person’s life isn’t easy as many would like it to be. Especially when the change is often impossible to hide and always irrevocable.

Conventional wisdom has it that one should never be too purposeful in their touch. While one can avoid accidental brushes of skin to skin, one should not avoid the casual contacts the world has to offer - handshakes, high fives, and the brush of shoulders in a crowd. When a person avoids all casual touch, it implies two things - arrogance and fear. Arrogance that a person could dare to know better than fate, and fear that a touch-mate won’t fit the preconceived ideal filling their mind.Because western society is a fickle bitch, one also shouldn’t touch too much . Touching anyone at any opportunity reeks of desperation. It implies that the person who may become the other half of a matched pair doesn’t actually matter, that only the mere existence of the match is important.
Both ideals enforce a standard of behavior that is more like delicately balancing a stack of chinaware than it is living the messy thing called life . Operating in a world where the first touch of a palm or shoulder - or lips - can bring about such a remarkable change to a person’s life isn’t easy as many would like it to be. Especially when the change wrought is often impossible to hide and always irrevocable.
For good or ill.
Contrary to what the biggest entertainment companies push, touch-mates can be found at any age and in any circumstance. An elderly couple can meet for the first time on their deathbeds in a nursing home and find themselves matched. Babies brought together for a playdate can leave marks on each other's skin. Nurses, doctors, and first responders are all at risk for finding their touch-mate in the worst of circumstances - enough for laws to be written specifically about it. Contact sports usually have uniforms for those who wished to avoid meeting their touch-mate when adrenaline was running high on the court or field.

How he looks at the beautiful girls around - at El - bitterly questioning if they, too, would make Mike a painting. Like Will did.

"Children, children, CHILDREN!" Murray finally snapped, pinching the bridge of his nose. The three of them shut up and looked at him in shock. "Enough of this pointless, childish bickering already. If I wanted to watch drama like this I would turn on a soap opera or telenovela. My god, do I have to play therapist to EVERYONE in this group?? I could sue you all for emotional compensation!"
Mike started to argue. He didn't know what he was going to say, exactly, but he was still pent up and Murray seemed like a better target than his two best friends. Unfortunately he didn't get very far.
"Ba-ba-ba! NO. Shut up and SIT DOWN. It's my turn to talk," Murray said forcefully, shoving the three of them onto the couch, with Mike somehow ending up in the middle.
"Oh no," Jonathan said under his breath.
"Shit," Nancy said at the same time.
Joyce hurried forward and stepped in between them. "Murray, Murray, no," she pleaded. "I know what you're doing, STOP."
Or: Murray meddles, Mike is hella confused, the world is ending, and Will won't talk to him.
OR: Mike runs away from his feelings and then for his actual, literal life.

Summary
This is, like, thriller movie shit. This is secret labs with mad doctors stuff. Eddie doesn’t know much, but he’s gleaned enough from movie nights with Steve. Eleven is going to have key information; she’s the mysterious character that’s somehow central to everything going on. And that means Eddie needs to keep her safe.
“Nice to meet you,” he says, glancing at the hospital gown hanging just below her knees. “What are you doing out here?”
“Running away.”
Yep. Mad scientist stuff.
“Well, are you hungry? I have food back home, and it’s pretty safe.”
Eleven seems to consider this offer for a moment, her gaze drifting to the mangled bike before she frowns slightly, a flash of something crossing over her eyes. Eddie wants to ask about it, but he holds himself back, mentally patting himself on the back when the girl finally nods once and walks over to him.
Eddie offers his hand, relieved when Eleven takes it, and feels one step closer to figuring out what the fuck is going on.

Not like Will did - with his drunk dad sitting at the table and the only open way of communicating with his mom being by small sounds left on the wood.
