    One of his men must have talked, he supposed that’s what you got when you hire anyone who’s interested, but it still hurt. Maybe he should create proper profiles on all of them once this is done so he can deduce who’s trustworthy and who isn’t.

    “No,” Tim said, although he was aware how obviously it was a lie.

    Jack moves quickly. He’s suddenly approaching, fast, with a bracelet that Tim could’ve sworn was just in his mother’s hands. He forcefully grabs Tim’s left hand, slips the bracelet on, and lets go.

    And, right when it gets past Tim’s hand, the bracelet shrinks.

    Tim gasps, holding his breath as he tries to figure out if he just saw what he thinks he did. His eyes, wide, move quickly to look at his parents, of whom are both equally alarmed.

    “Mom–” his voice is higher than he expected it to be, but he’s scared. He just got cursed and–

    “Timothy,” his mother’s voice shakes, “Go to your room.”
