Summary
Everything was supposed to be better once the Dawn was returned to Eos. The daemons would be gone, the survivors could rebuild, things were going to be good for the first time in a decade...
And then Nyx realized that a certain King of Light was in the Beyond. And he did not agree with that canon.
So, what does the ever-loyal Kingsglaive go and do to make sure his Young King would actually rule his kingdom like he was supposed to? He mouths off to the Astrals and gets himself backhanded through the time stream. So now, he has Astrals and Old Kings jabbering in his head, an overprotective group of Kingsglaive watching his every move, and oh, yeah, a King of Light he has to make sure remains alive by the end of the Prophecy.
Just his luck, really.

Noctis kneels on the floor of the keep, collapsed forward with his forehead resting on the cool concrete for precious minutes, breathing labored and keening some high pitched, terrible sound. He wants to feel a hand on his shoulder and for someone to pull him away from the hurricane-force of the magic just at his back, he wants his teeth to stop ringing like his whole jaw’s a tuning fork.
But it doesn’t. And no one does.
Or, accepting boons from the gods comes with consequences. Noctis drifts further away. Gladio, Prompto, and Ignis can only watch.

Incensed by such flagrant defiance of destiny, The Draconian decides to mete out punishment so severe, that it could now tear all seven levels of Immortal Realm apart. Not even an Astral is safe in the place they call home.
Trapped in this new nightmare Plane inhibited by sour gods and regretful divines alike, a man without memory who holds on to the name of Noctis is tasked to fight his way out, one damned level at a time.

Gather and allow me to tell you the story of Ardyn Lucis Caelum as I believe it unfolded.
This is a canon compliant-rewrite of Ardyn's origin told using sources from Final Fantasy XV, its lore and supplemental material before Dawn of The Future's retcons and discrepancies, but I did include some of the book's ideas that I felt worked. This rewrite was made as a labor of love for FFXV and Ardyn, I wrote this not to disrespect DOTF or its scenario writers, this story is simply how I would have written Ardyn's backstory and I hope you enjoy reading it!

Summary
12 years ago your life changed. Whether for the worst or best was still up to debate. As soon as King Regis took you away from the burning kingdom of Tenebrae your life was flipped. When you arrived in Insomnia your life now belonged to Lucis. They saved your life and it was only right to give them it as thanks. You experienced many things while in their care. Far more than you've experienced with your mother. A life of luxury and wealth. Servants and crownsguard waited on you hand and foot and King Regis held you to the highest regard. He saw you as a daughter and you didn't live without anything. All that was promised in return was laying down your life for Noctis; which you would gladly do.

Cloud opened his eyes, the smell of food strong in his nose. He vaguely recalled Tifa telling him that she was out with Yuffie this morning to get some fresh air and out of Edge. After the incident with Sephiroth and Geostigma, people slowly but surely went back to their daily struggles. He was the same. After a particularly tiring delivery day, Cloud had called it a day and went to sleep with a headache.
“Cloud, wake up! The mayor told everybody to assemble after breakfast, so don’t fall asleep again”, a familiar female voice and the sound of plates in the sink muffled through the door.
Groggy and with a tired sigh, Cloud heaved himself out of bed, reaching for the door.
He felt heavier as usual, a remnant of the Geostigma? More importantly,
“Just what does Domino want? I told Reeve to handle him for a while-”“Reeve? Cloud, are you still asleep?”
Blond hair, tied into a ponytail and the same blue eyes as his stared at him amused.
“Mom?”

Summary
Lifestreams cross and diverge. New destinies are being created or ruined. While in one timeline, destiny unfolds as the Draconian had willed it; Noctis sacrificing himself to save Eos and bring an end to the blight, in this timeline, a stubborn soldier takes a stand because he wants to!
Wanting was never enough, some were told while others were taught that will is the strongest force to push a human forward. How far must man go to prove that he is worthy of his life? What price must be paid to do the right thing?
What is the right thing anyway?
