Maybe mature fits better but I marked it explicit.The whole thing with Vecna didn't happen but the Byers and Eleven still moved back to Hawkins. Also, Hopper is also alive and in Hawkins.
As mentioned in the tags, there are time skips.
Mike Wheeler never told anyone but Eddie what happened at that party in his freshmen year. Eddie only knew since Mike got help from him at that time.
The second time it happened he didn't get help from anyone and absolutely no one knew that time. He told no one of it. The second time, he also witnessed Troy's death. He didn't tell anyone about that either.
The memory of the second time haunted him more than the first time did. The first time was painful but the second time terrified him because of Troy's death.
It affected him in a way that every time he got intimate with Will he'd back away. Mike never told Will about what happened. Will was okay with waiting for Mike until he was ready.Will Mike ever tell anyone?

Just last August, Mike was so happy and so delightful sitting in that seat, the wind kissing his hair and the sun lighting up his features with such a barbarity, that how could nature love a person more than Mike Wheeler?
In early October 1988, Mike Wheeler is brutally murdered by Troy Walsh and his group of friends. Will and everyone else is left to pick up the pieces; but what happens when it turns out that Mike's spirit has been there all along?

Why had Noble Synergy hired him? Why had he accepted the offer? The neat six figure salary had certainly played a role in his decision. Were his morals so easily bought? Apparently. Will sighed, fiddling with his suit jacket in agitation. Joyce noticed his nervous fidgeting and discomfort (she always did) and tried to help.
“Just pick a nice assistant. They can help you get settled and get ahead at work and once the lease is up, things will be fine. Go back to normal.”
“Unless you extend the contract. Hell, even buy.” Hopper pointed out, eyes still trained on his phone.
Joyce shot her husband a withering look as Will stared at him, aghast. Hopper glanced up, noticing the tension.
“What? I’m just saying the kid’s gonna be making the money. He could afford to keep one on,” he grumbled, quickly turning his eyes back to the screen of his phone. “I mean, did you see the contract they offered? And that apartment they provided? Not saying he’s gotta keep it, only that he could...”

Will opened his eyes and he was, thankfully, back in the normal world. Will was sitting in the foetal position on the floor with Mike sitting next to him, holding Wil's arms that were wrapped around his legs.
"Mike..." Will whispered. Will glanced down at Mike's lips, somewhat against his own will. They were so close. So close
Then Mike came closer. He wrapped his arms around Will and whispered in his ear, "You're okay," in the softest, most caring voice Will had heard ever. And he repeated, "You're okay," over and over again.
