Lucerys would be punished but her eye would not be taken in return. Desiring to be seen as just as his grandfather was, Viserys would not beget violence with violence nor would he brush such actions to the side. The cracks in the family splintered further because of this-not only between the two factions but within the Blacks as well. Lucerys was forever changed because of this and it became everyone's problem.

Jim and Spock meet as children. Jim's mother is absent; his caretakers are abusive. Sarek and Amanda rescue their son's friend and raise the boys together. They discover they are t'hy'la and are bonded. Spock goes to Earth to join Starfleet; Jim goes with him.
