Summary
Percy stood quietly, watching a young man take a whipping in the town square, one that he didn't deserve.
It was Percy's fault - all of it. He'd set the barn on fire, he was responsible for this young man's arrest... and he was letting him take the fall. The truth would tarnish the De Rolo name... but not speaking up, and not taking accountability... that would tarnish his soul.
He only meant to help Vax, who had been in prison the last he heard... but every time he showed up in Vax's life - he caused him more harm.
Vax was no longer in prison - no - he was released, and forced to face the storm alone. He had no coat, no shoes, and he'd been released before meal time. That would have made been arrested worth it, at least. Hiding in the hollow of a tree, Vax's life was on the line. He had nowhere to go, he couldn't run. He couldn't do anything - except wait for the end.
Or the reappearance of the stupid boy in the blue coat.

Despite what his sister said and what his choices sometimes indicated, Vax was not an idiot. He just had the self-preservation instincts of a baby duck waddling cheerfully toward a hungry fox. It was those questionable instincts that had led him to his current predicament: agreeing to go undercover with Percy, his ridiculously hot best friend whose jawline could cut glass and whose blue eyes somehow managed to be both icy and smoldering at once. The mission should have been simple—infiltrate a gambling ring in this velvet-draped den of iniquity and discover who was trafficking human beings through its back rooms.
No one told him, however, he'd be posing as Percy's partner. Well, technically they did. Allura had outlined it in her crisp, matter-of-fact tone, but he just hadn't realized she'd meant romantic partner, with all the heated glances and casual touches that entailed.
Vax is hopelessly in love with Percy. This hasn't ever been a problem. Until now. If he can control his erection long enough then they might just get out of this alive.

“How bad is it?” Percy asked as he adjusted his collar over the tie. Vex didn’t answer, but crossed to the window. She opened one side and gestured to Percy. Joining her and looking down, he could see down into the courtyard where the imposing figure of Grog was sitting on a bench, sharpening the edge of his enormous axe. The slighter form of Vex’s brother could only just be spotted from this vantage point, daggers in a reverse grip, inching towards the goliath from the shadows.
“Oh for goodness’ sake,” Percy complained. He turned and took long strides to leave the room, fastening the final buttons of his shirt sleeves and grabbing his blue coat on the way out the door. “You owe me one, Vex.”
Vax is an emotional maelstrom bringing chaos to Whitestone. Vex sends Percy to intervene before things get out of hand. Percival puts Vax back in his right mind.

Vax’s fingers..
He just.. Those long fingers, dainty and deft always so good with the doors he lockpicks… Percy cannot help but think about them as he slides his own fingers down his body.
The way they would know how and where to touch him to draw out a sound from his wanting lips, how they would cascade down his body finding every mark left by previous torture..But this is a different kind of torture.
This one is sweet, drawing out moans of pleasure.

“How long had they been in the sink?” Vex asked as she joined them.
“Only, like, a day or two.” Vax grumbled.
“Percy doesn’t like you either, you know.” Keyleth said, grinning mischievously as she took a sip of her coffee.
Vax gaped. “Why?!”
“He says you leave toothpaste everywhere, that you’re a slob and that you dress like you listen to Fall Out Boy unironically.”
Vax hates his stuck up roommate. He hates his stupid post-it's, his awful classical music, that bastard 3D printer and his unfair waist to shoulder ratio. And he definitely doesn't have a crush so if everyone could stop insisting he does that would be great okay?
