Somehow, it is a path that leads to five young dragon slayers coming into his care and to the joining of a guild of human mages—who are also mostly children. No, he has no idea what he is doing, but if it is what it takes to atone for his sins, then he is willing to try.
However, with the shadows of the Dragon War still lingering, the plight of the dragon slayers is not over. But this time, Acnologia found something to protect, and he would fight the gods themselves if it would keep them safe. Unfortunately, it is a resolve that may prove to be true.

The Alvarez Arc is still underway, but the rest of the series has been completely rewritten.
Despite featuring multiple ships, this is very gen-centric, with most of the heavy emphasis on the friendships and familial bonds.

Takes place after the final episode (ignoring 100 year quest)After the party celebrating Lucy's book (prologue) the thunder legion gathers to get a job... like old times. But when Freed doesn't show up... everyone begins to worry... what could have happened?

Summary
Freed wants to take a mission since Laxus isn't home yet for a while, but his teammates disagree with him so he takes a solo mission. After some time and still not hearing anything about their rune mage Laxus, Bickslow and Evergreen decide to go and see what's wrong. After finding Freed, Laxus slowly realizes he's more attached to his captain than he's maybe ready to admit.
