Summary
Growing up, Jimmy and Castiel Novak were very close. Closer than perhaps any two brothers should be. When it came time for the brothers to go to college, Jimmy secretly applied to Northwestern in Chicago. When the day to leave came, Jimmy left in the middle of the night, abandoning Castiel, leaving Castiel heartbroken and confused.
Twenty years later, Jimmy married a woman named Amelia and together they had a twelve year old daughter, Claire. Castiel married his college roommate, Dean Winchester.
When Amelia died suddenly, he quickly became overwhelmed. In desperation, he showed up one night on Castiel’s doorstep with his daughter in tow, begging for help. Dean took them in out of concern for Jimmy’s daughter Claire. The once happy life that Castiel and Dean had devolved into tension. Castiel felt betrayed by Dean and heartbroken by Jimmy’s return. Claire was angry at her father for tearing apart the life she had known while she was still struggling with the loss of her mother. Jimmy was lost in grief for his wife. And Dean, in the middle of it all, was trying to help each one of those people while holding onto the best thing in his life: his marriage.

Dean should be scared. The being in front of him was terrifying by all means and yet for some reason, as he stared into the creature’s eyes, Dean felt a warm sense of comfort wash over him. Because those dazzling, glowing blue eyes were so familiar, the pain in its eyes mirrored with Dean’s. Which is why, when it reached out one long, dripping black hand out to him, Dean reached out, too.
Dean didn’t know if it could talk. It didn’t need to, anyway. Dean knew what it was asking, and he answered the silent request without a second thought.
“Yes.”

Faced with death, Dean makes one last ditch effort: praying to an Angel he knows wont hear him. Deans prayers are answered when a vessel-less Castiel forces himself out from the Empty, taking possession of Dean's body in order to heal him.
Castiel's grace is running finite however, charged down after saving Dean's life. Now Castiel resides within Dean's mind, too weak to survive a transfer to another vessel, leading them to a desperate search for a way to rebuild his body. Summary
When Dean kicks human Cas out in season 9, instead of ending up at a Gas N Sip, he happens to run into a photographer who is struck by the depth of sorrow in his blue, blue eyes. He takes a few pictures, with Castiel's permission, and they're so good he goes looking for Cas again a few days later. Invites Cas for a shoot at his studio. Cas had nothing better to do, so he agrees. The more pictures he takes, the more the photographer realizes, this could really be something. He tries a few rolls with props, and Cas immediately homes in on the large black wings. They strike a deal, Cas will crash at the studio a few days, and the photographer will take pictures, and try to sell them to some contacts he has in some specialty magazines. Whatever money he can get from the shots, they'll split.
And that's how the next time Dean sees Cas, it's in a centerfold. Blue eyes front and center daring him to look anywhere else, full, spread wings above his shoulders, framing his I-am-an-angel-and-you-will-obey-me expression and not a stitch on him.- Language:

Summary

Dean is uncertain what Amara's meaning is when she brings John back, and struggles with coming to terms with the new family dynamic. Sam tries harder to keep the peace than he used to, and Cas does not get along with John at all- though he tries. Testosterone is at an all-time high as these four men struggle to coexist in the hunting world with very different ideologies.
We explore just how much the brothers have changed in the ten years without their father's guidance, the trauma they still haven't resolved, and the feelings that Dean and Cas hold for one another despite the very real and new barrier that is John.

In quiet anticipation of what they would do, what they could do, hidden away in some of corner of wherever it was they were going. This is easy, when the only time they can spend alone is spent with their mouths and hands all over one another.
And now Sam is already 700 miles away and there’s nothing on the radio but static. “So, I guess it’s been years, since we did this, just you and me,” Dean says, under the shadow of a highway overpass. “Gone on a case together, I mean.”

Summary
