When Johnny made to set back against his pillows, he cringed in pain, his body protesting at the movement. He sucks in a sharp breath through his teeth, groaning in discomfort as no sensation, breathing, not breathing, resting, not resting, none of it made a difference.
“Where does it hurt?” Ben questions, watching with concern as Johnny tried to balance between careful, shallow breathing, and leaning back slowly against his pillows.
“Yes,” Johnny answered, his eyes squeezed closed as he tried not to think about the pain. His spine was apparently okay, but very, very bruised. That injury, combined with his cracked ribs, made existence feel pretty miserable right about now.Post the battle with Galactus, everyone is trying to heal, both physically and emotionally.

Summary
See, Ben had died once. It was damn nice, or it would’ve been if any of his family had let him move on to the afterlife. Who’s he kidding? Ben hadn’t even let himself go up without saying goodbye.
Point being, Johnny had stared at Ben with a fiery determination afterward telling him he wasn’t allowed to go damn near anywhere unless Johnny said so. Ben had raised an eyebrow at the outburst, finding Johnny to be a bit selfish for not wanting Ben to experience the great beyond for himself. Back then, Ben saw it as a sign of his youth, a lack of understanding Johnny had regarding the weight of their circumstances.
And then Johnny had stared down waves of enemies who'd never stop, he'd been pulled apart and killed right before Ben's eyes, and Ben can't ever believe he'd been as selfish as to think that Johnny didn't understand the weight of the world they walked in.

Hikaru doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get any of it.
Some days, it feels like Yoshiki just wants as much distance between himself and Hikaru as he can get. Other days, it’s like being away from Hikaru would kill him. Hikaru can’t tell what’s gonna set Yoshiki off or not, and it’s not like looking at the memories would help. He got moody like this before, but only when Hikaru tried to talk about girls or Yoshiki leaving one day, and never for as long as he does now.
Is he doing something wrong?
“Hey, Yoshiki?” he calls ahead. “What d’ya reckon we should do for my birthday?”
Or; ‘Hikaru’ celebrates his sixteenth birthday. Hikaru doesn’t.

It’s not any easier. It’s harder. It’s worse. Noctis feels for that magic again, to let it build and swirl and flow, he tries to breathe it in and swallow it down and be one with it. It’s in his veins, in his head, in his heart, he was born with it, and so it should come to him as naturally as breathing.
He tries to push it through Ignis, from his own fingertips and into the warm skin in his grasp, the way he had with Gladio. It hurts to even try, it steals his breath away. And nothing happens.
| Noctis pushes himself too hard when he finally gives Ignis and Gladio access to his magic.

"Prompto!" Noct was just straight-up mad now.He warped once more and lunged at the retreating blond, knocking him off his feet. They skidded in a heap across the rocky terrain and Noctis was on top of him before Prompto even had a chance to roll over. An intense scuffle ensued, as Prompto frantically struggled to get back to his feet, and Noctis refused to let him do so.
It was less than a minute before Noctis found himself perched triumphantly atop the blond, his torso heavily straddled, wrists pinned firmly overhead.
"Ow—gah—get off," Prompto said, struggling desperately beneath him.
Noctis looked him full in the face. "The hell's wrong with you?!" he demanded.
Prompto continued struggling, and Noct tightened his hold on him. He closed his eyes, gasping to catch his breath, as he realized he was only wasting his energy.
