Summary
Reki was a huge fan of Olympian snowboarder turned professional skater Langa Hasegawa. He kept every single interview he's ever given, watched every clip of him and even bought his merch. It was admiration, not a crush, as much as his friend Miya liked to tease him about it being the latter.
Langa was a huge fan of a cute redheaded skateboarder that had a very informative channel, with tutorials that inspired him to start skating. He watched every live stream and every video he'd ever posted. Langa especially liked his other, much more popular trendy account, once he found out about it. He definitely had a crush on Reki, too bad he was probably straight and had a girlfriend.
Dream come true for the both of them when they get invited on a world skateboarding tour to promote a new game called W0RLDSK8 where Langa and Joe are featured as playable characters. Reki may not measure up to Langa's impressive heights exactly but he had his own things going for him. Langa wanted Reki, but it seemed like everyone did.

Summary
Learning a language for your bro was totally a reasonable thing to do, Reki decided. A best bro. A bro who you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. A bro who you would follow across the universe. A bro who you loved so much, as a friend, that you genuinely couldn’t imagine your life without them at your side.

It's almost time to graduate, and neither Reki nor Langa have any concrete plans for their first foray into adulthood. But they'll have to decide what to do eventually--whether it's going to university, finding a full-time job, or trying to make skating a lucrative past-time. There is only one sure thing: Reki wants his future to include Langa no matter what, even if that means following him halfway across the world.
Sure, Reki's aware that learning English won't guarantee that he and Langa spend the rest of their lives together, but he figures it'll at least give him a fighting chance.

“We could get a dog,” Reki mused.
He imagined it: the long walks both on his own and with Langa, the pull on his arm derived from the tight wind of the lead at his wrist, hopping on his board when his legs started to hurt but when the dog still had plenty of energy to burn. The image of being pulled along by a dog on his board was sort of comical, something that Reki had only seen in eighties’ western movies, dubbed, typically set in places that Reki could squint and consider to be like Okinawa, bright and summery, like Santa Monica or Malibu or, heck, even somewhere in Florida, like Miami.
Reki absently twisted a section of his blanket with a stiff hand, fingers threaded in a few tubes that rivered past. It would be difficult for it, he supposed, for several reasons.
Still, he tried again. “Koyomi’s always wanted a dog.”
Langa considered this, like it was a valid argument. Like it would change the walls around them, or the results of Reki’s X-rays. “But she has Miya."
