Clipboard. Nervous posture. Forced neutrality.
“Young man,” the doctor began, clearing his throat. “We received your blood test results.”
Light narrowed his eyes. His voice came out sharper than he intended. “Blood test? What blood test?”
The doctor hesitated, a bad sign.
“It came back positive.”
Light felt irritation spike. “Positive for what?”
The room tensed as if bracing for impact.
Then the doctor said it, blunt, emotionless, devastating:
“You’re pregnant.”
The world stopped.

I close my laptop shut as I just stare at him. “L…” He focuses on the papers in his hand instead of looking at me. “Either go to bed or wear your glasses. You’re going to need a new prescription at this rate.”
He sighs and puts the papers to the side in a neatly folded pile before his gaze meets mine again. “No.” I grumble slightly as I pinch the bridge of my nose.
He knows I’m right but he’s too stubborn to do what I say. “No?” I ask as I give him an irritated smile. “I think you accidentally said the word no. Want to change your answer?”
L groans softly and runs a hand through his messy hair. “I can see just fine.” He mutters, although he is blatantly lying.
