Summary
Tommy works as an overnight cashier at a grocery store in New L'Manburg, which comes with a few risks. Namely, a powered idiot walking in and robbing him. Which, sure, whatever, he's dealt with that before.
Except tonight is different. These aren't just idiots, they're supervillains with a grudge, and they seem to be targeting Tommy specifically. And by the end of it, he and Bee, the elusive son of none other than THE top hero Captain Sparklez, are not only connected by identical tattoos around their wrists but also a night of devastation and an ever-spiraling list of questions.
What, exactly, is festering so deeply in the tri-city area that not one, but two heroes have died trying to bring it to light? Why was Tommy, specifically, targeted that night? Just how deeply is the Angel of Death involved? And, after all of it is said and done, will Tommy and Bee (and Ranboo) even be able to pay the price for the knowledge they find?

There’s a soft, unfamiliar groan from the floor, and all three teens freeze.
“Fuck,” mumbles the hero kneeling on the floor of their apartment. “What…”
Adrenaline shoots through Tommy and fire explodes into existence in his hands. Tubbo is faster. His fist slams into the Zephyrus’ temple, and Zephyrus collapses without a sound.
For a moment, all they can do is stare at the unconscious hero. Fire still swirls in Tommy’s hands.
“Zephyrus is in our apartment,” Ranboo says faintly.
Tommy drops his hands, letting the flames go out. “Zephyrus is in our apartment,” he repeats, dazed. “Zephyrus is unconscious in our apartment.”
Silence.
“Welp,” Tubbo says flatly. “Guess I’ll tie him up.”

Summary
The stranger looks human at first, if not by his pale skin and tousled brown hair, then the sheer disorientation on his face as he looks around. He spins slowly, as if trying to take in every little feature of the main path. Only then are the wings pressed tightly against his back apparent. The feathers are bright, reds yellows and blues, and more well kept than the small and downy wings of Quackity, or the charred and tattered wings of Phil. He clearly isn’t from around here. For as sirens pierce the usual quiet of the SMP; the look on his face is not a revelation of someone who knows their significance. It's the confusion of someone who has found himself very suddenly out of his element.
Or a fic following an unfortunate plunge into the Boatem hole which leaves Grian far from the only home he knows; the deal he takes to free himself, and his subsequent attempts to both make his way back, and leave the place he finds himself in better than when he found it.
*These are the characters/personas and not the actual ccs, if any of them find issue with this work I will take it down*

(Yeah, he didn’t believe that for a second. Other fosters had been the same way. Schlatt was a well-known politician, who was running for mayor when he took Tommy in. Dream had been a member of the school board, part of the PTA, and had three other foster kids under his belt. Now look where he was, riding in Miss Clara’s car on the way to his next placement, Tommy huffs at her and turns back to the window. He only got out of the hospital a couple hours ago, and now he was stuck back in the car. Which he thought was dumb, he would be out in another year now, give or take a couple months, so why couldn’t he just get emancipated and go live his life?
Tommy didn’t want anything to do with Mr. Xisuma Void (and what kind of name even was that anyways) but Mr. Void was a pillar of the community, and had quadruple Dream’s previous foster kids, and pretty much all of them still lived in and around the neighborhood.)
Foster parent Xisuma Void has taken on an emergency placement, Tommy Innit. He wants to help this kid work through his trauma. Tommy wants to get emancipated and get out of there. Mumbo just wants to get his homework done (though he worries about Tommy too).

In which Mumbo crosses several towns, learns some creative methods of self-defense, fights some monsters, sees things no human is meant to have seen, befriends a stranger, steals multiple cars, has inconvenient moral scruples, grows increasingly terrified of his own culpability in the apocalypse, grows a spine, blows up at least one building, accidentally prevents a murder, and attempts to find his best friend in the futile but ever-burning hope the man’s still alive.
He has to say, he’s so exhausted and terrified that he thinks he might just be mad?
(OR: the one where, after most of humanity turns into a series of terrifying monsters, Mumbo decides he’s going to risk his life on an apocalypse road trip to try to find out if Grian is alive. Things, as you might imagine, devolve from there.)

They came to a balcony, and the figure stopped, whirling to face him. Sure enough, he wasn’t someone Scott had ever invited, or a member of the crew.
Scott took in his appearance- surprisingly small, dark coat that looked out of place against the bright colors of the lobby, asymmetrical white mask- and felt his heartbeat stutter as the realizations hit him.
This was a kid. And he was terrified.
Or: Mythro, fresh from the Abyss and terrified of being caught again, finds himself on the MCC world. Scott just wants to help.

Or, Techno, Wilbur, and Tommy are basically chaotic forces of nature, destined from birth to end the world and bring destruction. Most who hear of the tale of them are trying their best to track them down, and to end the monsters while they’re still young, still just children.
Phil has a different plan.
(In which Phil raises the minecraft equivalents of the anti-christ with love and support, so much so to the point where the world ending is really just a funny thought, and Phil has three kids who casually have powers that are bit more extreme than anything else in the world)
