Red was seriously done with today, and it had only just started. He overslept, again, which led to his Boss being late, again. That seriously pissed him off, Red might not care about his reputation, but he did. Blah blah blah. On top of that, Red forgot to clean and repair Edge’s battle body the night before, meaning he was not only late, but had to go around “LOOKING LIKE A SLOB LIKE YOU!!!”. The last words Red heard as his Boss stomped out of the house was to pick up his filthy sock pile after work, and to “NOT FALL ASLEEP AT YOUR POST AGAIN YOU LAZY-” before he grew too far away to hear.

Papyrus becomes determined to set things right and get his brother to open back up again but he struggles with toning down his aggressive behaviors. In the Underground, failure is not safe. Weakness is not secure. Every time Papyrus' brother goes out and turns cash into liquor, drinking himself into a stupor in front of every other desperate idiot in town, he’s practically broadcasting his death wish on national television. He’s asking to get dusted.
“I am going to fix you,” Papyrus says suddenly, without thinking about it.
The couch squeals as Sans rolls over, his red eye burning a hole into Papyrus’. It’s a challenge. Papyrus doesn’t look away.
“You can’t, but thanks for trying.”

Summary
The human never killed, but they also never returned. Flowey never regained the power to RESET, but he also never lost his urge to try new things, no matter who it breaks in the process.
Denied the chance to get his old body back, Flowey decided to take one for himself. In the end, he settled on Sans.
Sans' friends come together to get him back. That turns out to be the easy part, because having your body hijacked by an evil flower isn't an experience anyone passes through unscathed in body or soul. The hard part is picking up the pieces of their friend and helping Sans fit himself back together.
Fortunately, he soon discovers that the people in his life aren't the sort of monsters to back down from a challenge.

Sequel to "Line in the Snow"
Frisk managed to talk Papyrus into letting them flee Snowdin, and into giving his brother another chance while he was at it. But when the brothers return to town, cold reality sets in - the rest of the Snowdin Guard aren't so willing to accept that as an excuse for failure. It takes everything the two skeletons have just to survive the punishment that follows, and to form a plan about where to go from there.
Papyrus turns out to have some very definite ideas for new directions the Underground might take. And he's more than willing to drag his brother along this time so they can see those changes together. Sans is just happy to have a place by Papyrus' side again, and he finds himself getting creative to make sure he can stay there.

Sans and Frisk together have managed to get Frisk through Snowdin without the human being identified and captured. They both know that to be handed over to Undyne and delivered to Asgore would be a fate worse than death even in the brutal, violent Underground. Frisk is his friend, the first friend that Sans can remember having, and even if they're a human he knows they don't deserve to die.
Unfortunately, all their efforts aren't quite enough to escape the notice of The Great Papyrus. Out in the open and with nowhere to hide, his prey knows there's no escaping his pursuit.
Sans makes a stand so that Frisk can get away. Papyrus makes him pay for it. Somehow, a lot of things get said in the meantime that they'd both forgotten might ever have needed saying.

More often than not, the nightmares came.
Some nights it was old classics like finding nothing a pile of dust and a scarf sitting in the snow. One moment everything was fine, and the next… knees deep in the snow as shaking hands trembled towards the red. Pathetic little mix mantra of ‘no’s, ‘Pap’s, and ‘bro’s spilled from his lips.
