Merlin had had a string of lovers across his years, although lovers is a strong word isn't it? They were more convenient happenings, nothing more and nothing less, certainly not ever comparable to– to– to someone Merlin can’t quite remember at the moment.
There is no point dwelling in the past. What has happened has happened. Merlin knows this well. Only the present matters now - he is not concerned about the future as he will get there when he will, he has all the time in the world to wait. He’s so alone.
