Summary
His body seemed frozen in time, his perception of the world limited to a single brief moment in the past. The world continued to live, but Matt was stuck in the moment when the end of the world came. That terrifying moment when Foggy sighed and his chest no longer rose. Matt continued to feel the warmth leaving Foggy, the blood oozing from the wound and staining Karen's hands scarlet, even though Foggy had long since been taken away by the ambulance. His shoulder still burned from Poindexter's light pat, mocking, haughty, taunting. Matt was still in that moment, in that state of horror, anger, and grief, and was in absolute mental agony.
The kind he had never experienced before. The kind that penetrated not just to his bones, but to every molecule in his body.

Karen rarely thought about this, largely because she believed it was clearly not in Matt's plans, given his lifestyle. But watching him build this complex relationship with a kid who was confused by world around her and had lost so much, she couldn't help but appreciate this fantasy of Matt Murdock as the loving and caring father that his own father, Jack, had been.
Karen smiled sadly. Yes, Matt would be perfect for that role
or Angela awakens in Matt and Karen a feeling they never thought they will experience.
