His men tell each other they can’t believe how strong Rex is, how easily he seems to fall back into his accustomed role. (Jesse thinks it’s hilarious how annoyed Rex is that General Skywalker won’t let him on any missions.)
Rex can march and give commands and watch his men run drills and cover up his scars with his armor, and it’s all fine. None of them know about the training simulations he runs on nights and afternoons when he has time to himself, trying to relearn how not to freeze and panic at the prospect of a fight. Only Ahsoka knows about the nightmares that (more often than not) keep him from sleeping. And he barely even admits to himself that some days he feels like a coward, like he can't care about anyone but himself, like he just has to survive even though he should be safe.
Rex sometimes thinks he’s left some vital part of himself to rot on Kadavo, and he doesn’t know how to get it back. The only times he feels anything like he used to are with Ahsoka and his men, and sometimes not even then.
He doesn’t even know what’s wrong with him, and that scares him.

If it were any other Jedi, General Skywalker or Kenobi or even Commander Tano, it wouldn't be like this. But like Krell had said, General Kenobi has his hands full with his own battle, and General Skywalker is serving the Chancellor. There’s no one here to be the voice of reason but Rex, and Krell won’t listen to him.
But… But he remembers Commander Tano might have time to listen. She's attacking the blockade, but she's with Commander Offee, so surely Rex can at least talk to her, try to sort this mess.
If communications weren't down, which they are. Still, it might be worth a try. His brothers can't keep dying for nothing. He's overseen everything that needs done, so he's free to go off a little by himself and try to contact her. Her comm frequency just crackles with static at first, and he's disappointed, if not surprised. “Kriffing Umbarans,” he growls.
When he tries again though, there's a break in the static and then he hears the muffled sounds of a battle. “Commander Tano?” he says quickly. He hopes she's listening. “It's Captain Rex. Can you hear me?”

Yato had said these words fully expecting Hiyori to forget him, as everyone else eventually did. It was the way of things. It had been oddly touching to have someone notice him on the street, someone who went out of the way to help him. Even though it was completely unnecessary.
Honestly, he was glad she was all right, for his sake as much as hers. He wasn’t worth a young girl dying for him. The guilt would have eaten him alive.
What he had not been expecting was that it would be far from the last time Hiyori would save him.
Yato had never imagined meeting someone like Hiyori, let alone that the kindest and bravest person he'd ever met would want to stay by his side and protect him. But Hiyori is constantly in danger because of him, and the link between her soul and body is becoming frayed. How can Yato call himself a god, when he can't even protect his only follower?
