Summary
It's been three years since Jayce and Viktor stopped hiding from their feelings. Three years since Viktor left the Jedi Temple to protect Jayce.

How can he do anything but believe them whole-heartedly when they cup his face and tell him words so amazing and incredible that his heart sings in his ribcage? How can he be expected to not obey the people that raised him from a mere son of a blacksmith to a prophet among the people; someone who saw things no one else saw and was miles ahead of his time? So when there’s a whisper in his ear, as thick and sweet as honey, that he is perfect, and got so far as he has because he was always steadfast and loyal to this idea of perfection, it has to be true - especially considering he worked the entire miserable 32 years of life to hear those delicious words.
It has to be, because he is nothing without that strong, steady ideal of perfection that serves as the foundation to everything he’s created, everything he is, and everything he must be.

In which everything Jayce has left unsaid comes back to bite him.

The wind sweeps at their clothes and hair—casual, but constant—reminding them that yes, the world is still moving even when time feels like it isn’t. Silence, as the laws of convection dictates, sinks, introducing a chill to the early summer, and the two of them sit in its presence like they’re enjoying the moment, the beauty of it, admiring the overpass like tourists would.
It’s only when Viktor speaks, subdued and his accent peeking through, throat rumbling with something akin to afterthought, that reality whispers that they aren’t quite tourists: “My parents used to come here.”
Jayce cocks his head to the side. “To talk?”
“To fuck.”

The voice remained quiet. One beat passed. Then two.
Jayce opened his mouth to say something, to accuse the voice of being a liar, but he was interrupted before he could utter a word.
“Hextech, we must stop it. I’m done with it, Jayce. If I say anything different…” The disembodied voice trailed off.
“What, Viktor? If you say anything different, what?”

He falters, akin to a reservoir that rushes to lap at the wall of a dam, his thumb slipping from the dial as he turns his head to look over his shoulders. “Hm?”
Jayce cocks his head to the side and Viktor draws in a clipped breath – his beauty cuts through the stillness, ever clear. “It’s time for a break.”

Hope is a silly thing. It has burned Stan one too many times, and yet Stan keeps letting it, fool that he is. “Okay,” he agrees, and folds their hands together. It’s a clumsy fit: Stan’s fingers are thick and calloused, Fiddleford’s spindly and bitten at the nail. “Let’s try to be something good.”
Stan and Fiddleford try to be something good. It takes them thirty years. Companion piece to meltwater pulse, but can be read as a standalone.

Stan and Ford enjoy retirement on the high seas but an experience with creatures of the deep sends Ford spiraling into the ’what-if’s’. He struggles with feelings of being chosen for something special versus the haunting sense of having sacrificed too much of himself. Ghost had always known that the Na’vi were big. It was perhaps the greatest point of intrigue for their species to those who knew little more than side-by-side comparisons. The Na’vi were massive in theory…but it was an entirely different topic to tackle when one was staring directly at where Ghost lay in hiding.

Ghost came to Pandora to die amongst unseen stars. He didn't care for his Avatar body - the body Tommy was meant to pilot before he died - he just wanted rest.
Unfortunately, after his transport crashes on the surface of Pandora leaving him stranded, he's forced into wars he swore off when he left active combat. The Na'vi are brutal, but they are not unkind as they pick up the broken pieces of him and remind Ghost...His heart is warm so long as it is beating.
