Summary
He tried to call on the memories that haunted him, that danced out of reach, that slipped through his fingers like silver sands he could never fully grasp.
But they would leave. And Tim was Timothy Drake again. He wasn’t the hero he saw in his dreams, dressed in kevlar and scars, doused in love and family.
He was just Timothy Drake. A boy who knew too much. A strange boy. A boy that was both real and not. Dead and alive. Never born yet existing in a manor that was freezing every winter.
Just a boy. Just a boy who knew too much. A boy who didn’t know enough. A boy who could never quite remember the dreams and people with faces so familiar that danced out of reach.
Yet why did this other life, this other world, this other time haunt him?

Summary
Everything Changes in the time it takes for Dick to pick up the phone.
Jason had been tortured by the Joker.
Dick runs back to Gotham, back in the city he grew up in to help his family heal.
And to make thing worse someone is following him.
“You didn’t come home last night.”
Dick jumps at the voice, nearly dropping the juice, surprised to see Bruce standing in the kitchen staring at him with a furrowed brow.
“Hey B.” Dick greets, setting the juice on the counter. “Are you okay? You’re not normally up yet?”
“Why didn’t you come home last night?” Bruce repeats, ignoring Dick’s question. “Did something happen?”
Dick opens his mouth, about to tell Bruce all about his run in with Tim, to ask if he’d heard anything about the Drakes recently. Then he takes a good look at Bruce and the question dies in his throat.
Dark circles carved deep into his face, scruffy unshaven face, gaunt cheeks, and worry clear in his dull eyes. Bruce had been worried about Dick, worried another son had just disappeared without a word. The guilt felt like it could swallow him whole.
“Patrol ran late.” Dick lies. “I ended up crashing at one of the safe houses.”

Summary
"Are you going to eat that?" Jason asks, and doesn't miss the half-second too long before Tim says, "Already did."
Or: Tim Drake has spent five years perfecting the art of being fed just enough that nobody asks questions. Jason Todd has been hungry in ways that leave marks, and he's the first person who knows exactly what he's looking at.
When a case against a charity embezzler puts Tim in the middle of a gala on his own birthday, the same night he's spent every year since he was nine secretly baking himself a cake at midnight, one bad night finally becomes impossible to hide.

Summary
"You're running cold, Timbit," Jason snaps, his large hands locking around Tim's wrist. "Your signal's all static."
"The world doesn't revolve around me, Jason," Tim says, his voice flat, utterly devoid of defiance.
"I'm just clearing the ledger."Or: Tim accidentally convinces himself that his presence in the Batfamily is entirely optional, and a nasty knife wound in an East Bowery safehouse forces everyone else to violently disagree.
