Gem turned to her mentor, looking up at him in the eyes. “Heya, Gemstone, do you remember where the-” he cut himself off, glancing between Gem’s beet-red face and Pearl’s confused expression. “Oh! Hey, Pearlo, welcome to town! Good to see you two are getting along.”
Pearl tilted her head. Gem pointed at the window and called out.
“Hey, what’s that?”
“What’s what?” Pearl turned quickly, scanning the windows.
Gem turned to Skizz and drew a single finger across her throat. Skizz shrugged before grinning and giving a whistle.
She turned back to Pearl. “Oh, it must have been my imagination. Oops.”

Gem tilted her head. “What do you mean stories? Why would they be surreal?”
“Well, y’know how Hermitcraft is technically a private server, but people know about it anyway?” Tango asked. Gem nodded, confused. “Some people like to imagine stories with us, the members, as the centers of them.”
“Hold on,” she said, crossing her arms. “You’re telling me you guys found out what fanfiction is?”

It sounded again, a little louder this time. Grian pushed himself off the floor, eyes going hazy for a second before he balanced himself. His wings dragged him down, messy and unkept, but he continued until he felt his feet dip in the sand. It burned his heels, making him wince, and then he almost blacked out at the sight in front of him.
Scar, beautiful and kind Scar, was no longer rotting into mush in the sand. Instead, he was sitting, an arm propping him up, and breathing. He wasn’t exactly grinning as he normally would, but he smiled so brightly when he saw Grian that it made him want to sob.
Or, a ficfight oneshot where Scar comes back to life after the cactus ring and Grian feels like life is worth living again.

“You two threw me away for an accident and made the whole server hate me!” Pearl yelled, anger rising to her chest. It was a new type of fire- it wasn’t a small one that she had to keep relighting, keep using the smallest sticks she could find to keep it burning. This was bright, bigger than anything she had ever been in her life, and it cried; Pearl didn’t know if it wanted to be put out or fed. The creaking stopped suddenly, a huffing breath right outside what Grian had to assume was the entrance and exit to the cave. Then it started screaming again, getting farther away.
“Oh my god, it’s patrolling and making sure we can’t escape,” Grian whispered. On another day, he might be ashamed of the way his voice shook as much as his hands.
“I have an idea,” Etho said, nearly as quiet as Grian. Scar and Grian looked at him, eyes wide yet determined. “It’s not going to be nice, though.”

“Oh, Scar, no!” Grian cried out, lurching forward, a hand outstretched. A light burst from his fingertips, lighting the whole desert in bright white.
